10x15x20 cm speaker cone, cables, contact microphone and amplifier,
MDF wood and white paint.

As part of a larger study into extended architectural elements and
sound, this work was made by extending a window sill to form
a resonance box. The focus was on establishing a relationship
between the inside and the outside of a building and to explore the
instability and permeability of constructed walls.
In this work, a speaker was placed inside the extended window sill.
A hole was cut so that the speaker cone was visible and to enable
the sound to pass through. The speaker was then covered by a
sheet of white paper which was coated with coloured pigments.
A live feed of the sound from outside the window was fed into the
speaker. The sound, manifested as changes in air pressure, would
cause the pigments to move and make impressions on the paper.
